Where ALS goes to take a breath…
From the driveway, you see a home on piers on the edge of a lake. However, the heart and soul of this very special place is what makes it stand out from ordinary vacation rentals. John-boy’s Place, created by Leslie Stewart Gafford, in memory of her husband, John Gafford. John passed of ALS; he dreamed of a lakefront home. Leslie took that dream and made it real as a non-profit: https://windchimeresources.com/

John-boy’s Place is a vacation home rental that is fully accessible. Leslie rents the home through Air BnB: https://abnb.me/g2fkRcZZ5zb
From the revenue generated and donations raised, she offers no cost stays to qualified families affected by ALS. Benefactors can actually sponsor families for a week stay. If interested, please reach out to Leslie at wr.llc2021@gmail.com.
Additionally, John-boy’s Place is raising funds through the sale of Bricks dedicated to honor or memorialize a loved one who has passed from ALS. These bricks will be used to create a fire pit and patio, where families can enjoy evenings by the fire.

Having visited John-boy’s Place today, the images and words simply don’t do it justice. From the moment I arrived and heard the windchimes melodically singing to my soul.
Instantly, I felt that I was home. My shoulders relaxed, I closed my eyes and let the notes transport my broken body to happier moments. The breeze washed away… my worries, washed my mind clean of doubts and fears, if only for a short period. Leaving, I felt as though I had been there for days. I can only imagine had I been.

Please consider supporting this incredible respite from ALS. Your contributions will help families “take a breath from ALS,” if only for a moment, perhaps for the last time.
