Meg and I have stepped away from advocacy a bit. Instead, we are now focused on traveling and making memories. Our recent adventures have taken us to our first RV rally, The Escapers Escapade. Here, we had the pleasure of meeting a wonderful group of individuals, including members of The Handicap Travel Club. In a delightful twist of fate, we encountered a couple who own an RV identical to ours. It was such a unique bond to share, and it instantly made us feel like part of a larger family. This community is so embracing, and Meg and I have thoroughly enjoyed this period of our lives.
Our journey did not stop there. We even joined a nationwide veterans RV club, further expanding our circle and deepening our connections with like-minded travelers. The camaraderie and support within the RV community are truly heartwarming and have made our travels all the more enriching.
As we continue our journey, Meg and I are on our way to San Diego to present on a panel at the National Neurology Conference, representing IAA alongside a few other advocates. Initially, we had planned to fly, but we changed our minds and decided to hit the road in Big Blue. This decision turned our trip into an even more meaningful adventure – a trip with a purpose.
Traveling in Big Blue has allowed us to explore new places, meet incredible people, and create lasting memories. The open road has become our new home, and every destination brings with it new stories and experiences. From the warm embraces of fellow RV enthusiasts to the shared laughter and late-night conversations by the campfire, these moments have enriched our lives in ways we never imagined.
As we prepare to present at the National Neurology Conference, we carry with us the spirit of adventure and the support of our newfound community. This journey is not just about the destination; it’s about the people we meet, the stories we share, and the memories we create along the way.
The RV community has welcomed us with open arms, and we are grateful for the friendships and connections we have made. As we continue to travel advocate, we look forward to the many adventures and memories that await us on the open road.
I hope to get back to writing more and helping others understand the challenges of living richly in spite of ALS. It has taken great effort by Meg to make it possible, and I am so grateful for her love and support. Her unwavering dedication has been my anchor, guiding me through the complexities of this journey with grace and resilience. Together, we have discovered that life’s most profound moments often arise from the simplest of adventures, and it is in these times that we find our true strength and joy.
Thank you for following our journey. Stay tuned for more updates from Meg, me, and Big Blue!
